The Americas region is large and very diverse, nevertheless the business focus and strategies are continually aligned and renewed for the 27 countries which are served by the AIMS International partners in Northern, Central and Latin America.

One focal point was the enhancement of cross border client management and synergies between the countries. In line with the global strategic framework, the partners under the leadership of EVP Bernardo Entschev (Brazil) focused the discussions on further strengthening the quality of the cross-border projects, especially the alignment of US and LATAM countries cross-border business, under the umbrella of a unified key account management principle.

(English) Armando Cavero presents G4S CEO

March 26th, 2014 – Lima, Perú – Armando Cavero, Managing Director of AIMS Perú presents newly appointed CEOs in the leading business magazine ”G de Gestion” in Perú.

Armando Cavero started in April 2013 to present his column.

The intention of this column is to interview a newly appointed CEO or high profile ”C” position, from the line of sight of an Executive Search Consultant and share with the readers insights of the person, his/her style and among other things, the reasons for him/her to get a new job. The column is called ”RECIÉN CAZADO”, which means in English to the point ”Freshly Hunted”.

This interview was led with María del Carmen Bernal Fedalto the CEO of G4S

About María del Carmen Bernal Fedalto:

  • Current position: CEO, G4S Peru and Bolivia
  • Previous Position: CEO, Priox (Rent Services at the Romero Group), CEO, DHL Perú
  • Marital status: Married
  • Hobby / Sport: Jogging and fitness
  • Education: University of Lima, industrial engineer. Adolfo Ibáñez University, MBA

Interview:

María del Carmen Bernal Fedalto: ”I will focus on the business and the productivity”

Compared to your previous experience and roots in DHL, the security industry seems very different?

I think there is a great affinity between G4S and DHL. Looking at logistics, time sensitivity, deliverables, safety and quality in each transaction it is very similar to my experience from DHL.

DHL has formed you and you have gained experiences in various positions?

In DHL I first entered a position according to my experience to date. After a relatively short period I was identified as a contributor with high potential in various functions and areas. Finally I became the General Manager.

What is the first thing that will test your management skills in G4S?

I think one of the most important tasks, by the depth of its impact on
the entire organization, is managing talent. It is a very high priority for me to be able to relate to all members of G4S and not only with the brand, which is very powerful, but with the organization as a whole.

It will not be easy, considering that G4S Peru and Bolivia has about 10,000 people in total?

Well, I never thought it would be easy. But it is a motivating challenge, with this great number of people who contribute and develop personally and professionally in the business, and based on our geographic spread.

Which of the challenges you face, and will face, will be most familiar to you?

To empower the organization. Delegate, assign responsibilities, manage based on KPI and on the other hand to stop overprotection and micromanagement.

What about the biggest challenge, or the less familiar one?

One of the biggest will be to renew the commercial approach, productivity and revalue the area of customer service.

What do you expect from your employees in order to succeed with the challenges you have described?

I have found a lot of openness and although is something that one expects, the degree I found here at G4S has been overwhelming and much higher than any expectation. We will require the appropriate responsiveness and flexibility.

Changes are embedded in a deep introduction and series of processes. What do you not wish to find?

Lack of transparency and lies. I hope not to find that we have not learned by our mistakes, that they are repeated or hidden.

What management style would reviewers find in you?

You will find in me a facilitator. Not assuming that anything lies outside of responsibilities, because I think that each person must be able to decide on their level and thereby assume the corresponding responsibilities.

(English) APAC Regional Meeting 2014 held in Seoul

(English) APAC Regional Meeting 2014 held in Seoul

The new AIMS International Partners for China, Singapore and the Philippines were present.

AIMS International had its Partners’ meeting in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region for 2014 in Seoul, Republic of Korea, March 6th and 7th. As the APAC region continues to grow and become more integrated with the rest of the world, the business focus and strategies should continually be aligned and renewed for AIMS International and its partners, especially in the region. AIMS International holds its annual APAC meeting in major business hubs — Sydney 2012, and Tokyo in 2013 for example — where partner firms are based. Thus Singapore — the home of AIMS International Singapore — will be hosting the APAC regional meeting in 2015. Global AIMS International clients have been and will be taking part in the meetings to present their needs to AIMS International partners as their global Executive Search and Talent Management provider.

In the last 6 months AIMS International moved quickly to team up with new quality partners in China and Singapore when the previous partners had to leave suddenly in 2013, by inviting ‘The People At Work’ to serve clients in these countries with additional coverage of the Philippines. The top representatives from the new partners expressed their visions and commitment for the AIMS International values and strategies presented and discussed, as value-adding partners of the AIMS International partnership. Kevin Wallis, Executive Vice President APAC Region of AIMS International, who has been spearheading the work to invite The People At Work, will continue his effort to identify and invite additional strong partner firms in other strategic countries and regions, such as Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. At least two more partners will be pursued to join the AIMS International APAC partnership within the next 12 months to extend the services to its international clients.

AIMS Internationals strategy renewal initiative, lead by the new managing board elected last year, was presented to and refined by the participating partners, after going through the same process with AIMS International EMEA partners in last autumns meeting in Helsinki, Finland. With a particular emphasis on the spirit of value-adding partnership, the renewed strategy clearly defined future directions and coherent guidelines for the organization to the benefit of its clients. APAC partners unanimously supported the new strategic direction and urged a set of implementation plan to be articulated. The new strategy initiative will be endorsed by all partners of AIMS International, with additional follow-up measures anticipated to be discussed and added to the benefit of its clients. AIMS International APAC partners cited such example implementation elements as mutual information technology and extended preferred supplier agreements.

In line with the global strategic framework, AIMS International APAC partners, under the leadership of EVP Kevin Wallis, focused on further strengthening the quality of cross-border projects under the umbrella of a unified key account management principle. On another front of more dynamic business drive, the APAC partners also agreed to intensify their contribution in the AIMS International global industry teams, in accordance of individual capacity and interests, such as IT, finance, automotive, FMCG, and industrial teams. In these roles, the APAC partners will spearhead the vertical knowledge development in the region, while maintaining close collaboration with the counterpart partners in the respective global industry teams.

From today on Hansuk Kim (Korea) will lead the APAC region in the IT and Telecoms Team, Katsusuke Yokota (Japan) in the Financial Services Team, Adarsh Matta (India) in the Automotive Team and Kevin Wallis (Australia) in the Industrial, Engineering and Logistics Team.

Hansuk_KimThe meeting was facilitated for the participating AIMS International Partners by Hansuk Kim, Managing Director at AIMS International Korea.
