(English) Americas Regional Meeting 2014 held in Chile

AIMS International has held its spring annual Partners meeting for the Americas region in Santiago de Chile March 19th to 22nd.

Senior Partners from the region came together with AIMS Internationals President Daniel Ekberg (Sweden) and the Vice President Richard Joly (Canada) to discuss the options to increase the value of AIMS International for its clients in the region.

The Americas region is large and very diverse, nevertheless the business focus and strategies are continually aligned and renewed for the 27 countries which are served by the AIMS International partners in Northern, Central and Latin America.

One focal point was the enhancement of cross border client management and synergies between the countries. In line with the global strategic framework, the partners under the leadership of EVP Bernardo Entschev (Brazil) focused the discussions on further strengthening the quality of the cross-border projects, especially the alignment of US and LATAM countries cross-border business, under the umbrella of a unified key account management principle.

Another key topic was the expansion strategy of AIMS International in the USA. Potential partners are reviewed against the expectations of the big multinational corporations in Europe.

Embedded into the meeting was also a high caliber client seminar attended by over 100 managers of the largest Chilean and American companies. Three key speakers elaborated about key talent management in ambiguous contexts such as:

Rodrigo Jordan, who delivered an evaluation about the challenges of talent management in 2014 from a teams´ perspective.

Carlos Osorio, founding director of the master in innovation at UAI in Chile, gave a speech about the meaning of innovation in talent management in 2014.

Daniel Ekberg, the President of AIMS International, talked about talent in a globalizing business world.

The speeches were highly appreciated and clients made contacts with local partners afterwards, discussing specific business needs.

The next Americas region meeting will be held in Miami, at the beginning of December 2014.


About the speakers:

Rodrigo Jordan is widely recognized in Latin America for his work in leadership and innovation. He is the author of Leadership: From Theory to Practice (Spanish, Prentice-Hall 2008) and he is the host of ”Leadership in Person,” a TV show for Canal 13, interviewing Chile’s most important leaders.

In addition, he serves as Professor of Innovation Process and Management in the MBA program at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile School of Business. Jordan regularly runs seminars on leadership and the development of high performance teams to a wide variety of clients throughout Latin America and beyond.

Jordan is considered one of Chile’s most accomplished mountaineers, having led several successful expeditions to the Himalayas and Antarctica.

He has authored a number of books and documentaries based on these expeditions including Everest: The Challenge of A Dream, K2: The Ultimate Challenge, Planet Antarctica, and One Day in Chile.

Rodrigo Jordan holds a PhD in Organizational Administration from Oxford University.


About the speakers:

Carlos Osorio is professor and founding director of the Master on Innovation at Adolfo Ibañez School of Management, board member at the InnovationForum (CHILE), visiting researcher at the Institute for Basque Competitiveness (SPAIN), fellow at the Center for Social Innovation of Un Techo para mi País (A Roof for my Country), and affiliate at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society.

He has also been visiting research scientist at MIT Media Lab, and research associate at the Information Technologies Group at the Center for International Development at Harvard University. He founded Designing Better Futures, a design + innovation consultancy that helps firms innovate, and hosted NuevaMente (NewMinds) the first Chilean TV show on innovation at 13C Channel.

His research focuses on innovation and new product development processes, design thinking and architecture of complex systems. His work has been published by Harvard Business Review, World Economic Forum, Brookings Institution, among others, and has been covered by varied media such as CNN en Español, The Economist, Corriere della Sera, and Salon.com.

Carlos has worked helping firms with their innovation processes in the information technology, biotech, energy, mining, finance and service sectors in the United States, Europe and Latin America, including Fortune 100 companies.

He graduated with the highest distinctions from the University of Chile with a B.Sc. in industrial engineering. He later earned a Master in Public Policy from Harvard´s John F. Kennedy School of Government as Fulbright Scholar, a M.Sc. in Technology and Policy, and a PhD in Technology, Management and Policy from the Engineering Systems Division at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
