Luna Innovations begins search for new CEO

ROANOKE, Va. – Molecular and sensing technologies maker Luna Innovations Inc. says a search is under way for new CEO to succeed founder Kent Murphy.

Roanoke-based Luna had previously announced Murphy’s resignation as part of a leadership transition plan. The company said Tuesday that Murphy will remain on its Board of Directors in a new role as vice chairman. He also will become a strategic and technology adviser. Luna says it has retained executive search firm AIMS International to help with the search. The process will be led by a CEO search committee.
Chief Financial Officer Dale Messick will serve as interim president and chief operating officer. Chief Commercialization Officer Scott Graeff also will serve as interim chief financial officer.
