First Polish companies investing abroad – AIMS supports their international development

To date Central European companies have been mostly receiving investments from Western Economies. In the last couple of years local Central European companies are increasingly going abroad, to neighbouring CEE countries and beyond. AIMS has just been involved in supporting an important Polish chemical company in their acquisition of a large Romanian chemical factory, employing close to 1.200 people. The AIMS task was to combine the knowledge of HR practices in Poland and Romania and propose HR solutions that will be competitive in the global market. One of the key elements was to assess the quality of the existing HR structures and people (mostly in management positions) and propose development programmes, including internal and external recruitment processes. A Polish AIMS team has worked with the Client in Romania, leveraging the investor?s view on HR issues; the Romanian AIMS team has supplemented it with local market intelligence and has offered to deliver Executive Search projects. A decision was made to search for a new Human Resources Director and a Head of Legal Department for the Romanian company, both positions to be filled using Direct Search methods by AIMS Romania. We expect to close these projects in the coming weeks and continue improving other fields of HR activities of the Client. It seems that the combination of local and global AIMS expertise has fulfilled most of our Client?s HR needs in this acquisition ? we hope to have an important influence on his long term business success in Poland and Romania.
